How Rate Indicator works

Is this a good rate?

When searching for a hotel, it is not always easy to know if the rate you find is good, especially for an unfamiliar hotel or destination. To help answer this question, we look at current hotel rates and compare them to vast amounts of past rates. This comparison is our patent pending Rate Indicator.

A Rate Indicator indicates whether or not today's rate for a specific hotel is a deal. It compares the individual hotel's current rate found to its past rates observed for:

  • The same travel dates (e.g. past rates found for a stay on July 20-22)
  • Other travel dates on the same days of the week (e.g. other Friday-Sunday stays)

A Rate Indicator "deal" indicates today's rate is lower than past rates for that hotel.

How do I find a Rate Indicator?

The Rate Indicator feature is currently available for 30 U.S. destinations. If it is not available in your search, let us know by suggesting we add a city.

On your hotel search results, the Rate Indicator is the color-coded legend under the map. The hotel flags on the map are color-coded to match their Rate Indicator score.

Use the Rate Indicator filter on the left side of the page to narrow your results, or sort the listings by clicking the "Rate Indicator" column heading.
